What is ROI?
Return on Investment (ROI) measures the profitability of your investment as a percentage of your total cash invested. It's one of the most important metrics in real estate investing.
ROI can be calculated as annual ROI (based on yearly cash flow) or total ROI (including cash flow and appreciation over multiple years).
Target ROI Ranges
- 12%+: Excellent returns, above-average deal
- 8-12%: Good returns, solid investment
- 5-8%: Average returns, acceptable but not great
- Below 5%: Low returns, look for better opportunities
